Boost Social Media Engagement Quickly

Admit it – you want to boost social media engagement, but you have no idea how to do it. If your social media accounts are beginning to feel like a tumbleweed-infested wasteland, it’s understandable to feel a bit dejected.

However, if you are seeing a decline in your social media engagement, don’t worry – it happens to everyone at some point, and it’s not the end of the world. Just because your social media accounts are quiet at the moment, that doesn’t mean they have to stay that way. Stop worrying about it and get everything sorted today! To get you started, check out these four super easy tips to help you climb out of this social media rut….

Use every tool available

These days, every social media platform can be used in a variety of ways. For example, Facebook and Instagram both now offer the option to post short ‘story’ videos which appear at the very top of the user interface – posting a story on either platform is a quick and easy way to grab the attention of your followers, in a place and format that they aren’t used to seeing you. Posting a poll on an Instagram story is a particularly fun way to drive up engagement – ask some tough but light-hearted questions, and wait for the funny responses from your followers to start pouring in.

Always tag everyone

If you are posting about a business, person or place, it’s practically criminal not to tag them. For example, if you are a wedding photographer posting pictures from a recent job, it’s vitally important to tag everyone you can: the venue, the cake supplier, the dressmaker. When you tag someone, they get a notification about it, which makes them a lot more likely to interact with you. Perhaps they will even post about you in return, introducing your company to all of their followers!

Hashtag to high heaven

Let’s start with an insanely easy way to boost social media engagement. Every social media platform under the sun allows you post hashtags. Although it might be a bit irritating when you see someone overdoing it with the hashtags, the benefits outweigh the negatives. Covering your posts with relevant hashtags makes it easier for people who don’t know you to stumble onto your content. This is especially true on Instagram, where you can even ‘follow’ hashtags in the same way you would a person.

Engage with people yourself

If all you are doing on social media is shouting about how great you and your company are, it’s easy to imagine why your followers have got bored and stopped engaging with your content. To get them back on side, take the time to do some engagement of your own. Comment on the posts of other people and companies, and don’t be afraid to share other people’s content. As long as you link back to their account, they’ll be happy to see you spreading the world. Again, this will make it much more likely that this other person/company will post about you in return. This will give you a little natural boost.

So, to clear out the tumbleweed and boost social media engagement for all of your accounts, heed this simple advice: make the most of every tool, tag everyone you can, embrace the hashtag, and interact with other people’s posts. You’ll soon see positive results!
