Have you heard about Guildford’s very own Street Angels? They are volunteers who believe that people deserve care and love in their time of need. They provide care and support for people who use the leisure and entertainment venues in Guildford, helping them when they become vulnerable at night. This can happen to people for many reasons, including becoming separated from their friends, the effects of homelessness, intoxication, drug abuse, assault or any other issue which has caused personal distress or the potential for physical harm.

Guildford’s Street Angels are run by Guildford Town Centre Chaplaincy, but they help people whoever they are, regardless of faith or background. And, they work in teams, in partnership with the club and pub door staff, Police and emergency services, to enable people to get home safely. They have been serving people on Guildford’s streets since October 2008 and make a positive impact on crime and antisocial behaviour (particularly in the vicinity of bars and clubs) by providing a calming presence late at night.

As a part of our Delivered Social Green initiative, we produced a video for them, to celebrate their return to Guildford after not being able to operate during the Covid-19 lockdown! They’ve been operating in our town for over 12 years, so it really was great to see them back. They’re operating slightly reduced hours, from 8 pm until midnight, until more venues open up again.

In the video, we hear from some of the people around Guildford who have worked with, including Paul Cobb of the CobbStar bar who has been friends with the Street Angels for a number of years, and really appreciates their presence in the town. We also hear a bit more about the important work the Angels carry out in the town, helping to make Guildford a safe place for everyone. With the Angels on the streets, crime and anti-social behaviour rates are proven to go down, which is why it’s so great that they’re back on Friday and Saturday nights. Watch the video here:

The Street Angels Video: Delivered Social Green

We created this video as part of our Delivered Social Green initiative, in order to support a charitable organisation in our town of Guildford. Everything we do for charities and other non-profits as part of this initiative is done totally free of charge, so they can spend the money they might have spent on this elsewhere. Its been so great to support them in the project and we’re really pleased with the end result!
