Our work with It Takes a City
It Takes a City is a vital charity dedicated to ending rough sleeping and the cycle of homelessness in Cambridge. Their primary challenge was creating a website that clearly communicated their unique, trauma-informed approach and their specific services, such as the Crossways winter project and The Haven (their women-only space). As an organisation reliant on community support, the platform needed to effectively recruit volunteers, solicit donations, and transparently share its success stories and local advocacy work to build trust and drive action within the city.
We started with a deep-dive discovery session, focusing on It Takes a City’s core difference: their direct service delivery and belief in building successful pathways from street to home. We mapped the user journey to immediately showcase their work’s dignity and respect, using a trauma-informed lens. The strategy centred on translating their complex, hands-on work into clear, compelling digital content that motivates the Cambridge community to act.
We executed a clean, professional website design that uses powerful, authentic imagery and a confident, urgent tone. We created distinct navigation for their core services (Crossways and The Haven) and their advocacy work, ensuring comprehensive coverage of their mission. Crucially, we implemented a highly visible “Support Us” section with integrated donation and fundraising options, alongside clear information on volunteering. The inclusion of genuine, detailed case studies effectively translated abstract goals into tangible, human impact, significantly boosting their credibility and fundraising potential.
Jonathan Bird, Chief Executive Officer at Delivered Social, said:
“It Takes a City has a clear, powerful mission, and we built them a website that serves as the central organising force for their community. By simplifying their service structure and ensuring their profound impact is clearly communicated through real-life case studies, we delivered a digital platform that effectively mobilises the people of Cambridge to help end homelessness.”
