Social Media For Event Inspiration

These days, everyone and every business have a social media account. It can seem a bit overkill and almost like we are obsessed, but I think social media is very useful! Here are some of my reasons why social media is a great place to search for event inspiration.

Sharing pictures

Life in the modern world is very busy, there isn’t much time to search for ideas while planning your event. Therefore, image-orientated platforms like Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook are hugely popular. Mindlessly scrolling is easily done, so when an image catches your eye, stop and pause to find out more. Pinterest is so useful when planning. You can pin to your own board and come back to it later when you have more time.

Real-time updates

Finding a company website is great, but it could be that it isn’t updated very often. Sometimes companies that aren’t trading anymore forget to even take the website down.  Searching social media means that you can see which businesses are still very active, and finding businesses that you resonate with is very important. I especially find live videos valuable for this as it shows me their expertise and it’s nice to know the faces behind the brand. This is also a great way to get your questions answered very quickly.

Trust

I am in a lot of Facebook groups and even have my own one for brides. Here, I share a lot of content that I don’t post on my main Facebook page, as I like to get into more in-depth discussions with my followers and build up a relationship. I want my brides to know that I don’t only want all their money and I’m going to do the most basic job – by sharing valuable content I want them to know that I am here to make them feel calm, reassured, pampered and that they can trust me completely to help them feel like the most beautiful person in the world! Being a part of someone’s wedding day is so special and so I only want to do the best job that I can.

Easily accessible

We can’t live without our phones these days. I know a lot of the time, if I’m in a conversation with someone and one of us asks a question, no doubt will we look up the answer using our phones. If you’re excited about your event, you want to show people details like the venue, the decorations, the catering or what DJ you have booked. If any of this is on social media (most likely), you can easily show your friends and family what you are planning just by looking on your phone.

Sociable

Of course, social media is sociable, that’s why it’s called social media! You can plan nights out on Facebook, easily inviting everyone on a Facebook event and keeping up to date with the guest list. Everyone can get involved in a discussion on the event too. Instagram works well during or after an event. A popular thing to do with weddings is to create a hashtag and ask everyone to use it on pictures. Other apps do this too, like WedPics if you want it more private.

Group chats on WhatsApp or Messenger are also a great way to plan something. I know I’ve been in a few when it comes to hen parties! It’s so much easier and saves a lot of time!

As you can see, there are plenty of places to get event inspiration on social media, no matter what type of event you’re planning!
