So we set up a brand new page completely separate from our client TrekDating.com. This is a niche online dating site for Star Trek fans. By posting relevant content on this new page daily, we were able to engage the niche fan base in a new way.
Let me ask you a couple of questions. What colour uniform does Captain Kirk wear? What is the registry number of the USS Enterprise commanded by Captain Jean Luc Picard in Star Trek The Next Generation? Not a clue right? Well, the fans do know the answers to these and many more so we created a Star Trek Quiz page designed to effectively tap into the niche. With three questions a day and messages designed to be shared and liked the page is off to a flying start!
Tap into hidden markets
Tapping into your niches ‘hidden’ market can produce great results in both customer engagement and actual sales. By linking TrekDating.com to the page via sponsorship, fans were exposed to the brand and created positive associations (and more importantly visited the website).
Finally, the best bit is this method can work for absolutely any business out there! Maybe you are an estate agent who can offer a page for local events in their area. You might be a pub who could set up a Pub Quiz page much like we did. The possibilities are endless – all you have to do is step out of the box!
