Overview.

Just in case you’ve not heard, Portsmouth is going for UK City of Culture 2029.

It’s time for the South! Portsmouth officially submits its bid to become the UK City of Culture 2029, and Delivered Social partnered to deliver the pre-submission website to ensure we made the long list!

Helmed by the amazing Gemma Nichols from Portsmouth Creates, we all began spinning many plates to bring life to Portsmouth’s bid.

  • WordPress CMS: Ensuring that quick updates could be made to the website once Portsmouth made it to the long list

  • Accessibility: Ensuring accessibility for everyone in Portsmouth really mattered with this site

  • Mobile Responsive Design: Special care taken to enable a mobile friendly design for the site to enable all users the best experience

  • Visual Identity: Ensuring the brand’s vibrancy was key during this project whilst staying true to Pompey’s roots.

The Challenge.

We started with nothing.

At Delivered Social, we love a challenge, and the start of the We Love Pompey website certainly didn’t disappoint. Capturing Portsmouth’s culture in just a few pages was no small task, but thanks to the excellent branding provided by Danger Danger, speedy responses from our partners at Portsmouth Creates and a couple of early mornings, We Are Pompey came alive.

  • New brand means new guidelines. We Are Pompey had nothing existing as a brand, so we worked collaboratively with a local branding agency to turn vision into reality.

  • Ensuring Portsmouth’s diversity & creativity was really key on this project.

  • Ensuring SEO was implemented correctly the first time.

  • Displaying partner logos and founding organisations to ensure consistancy within the brand.

The Results.

Well, we made it.

With an incredibly tight deadline (under a day), Delivered Social pulled everything together right in time for the long list announcement, meaning that not only could the city start engaging with the brand, but we were more than ready for the judges. A fully responsive, socially ready website and campaign started and we’re excited to see our City of Culture bid progress.
