Overview.
A bold, high-contrast charity website that shows how Key4Life turns young lives around and makes it easy for businesses, mentors and donors to get involved.
Key4Life is a crime prevention charity that works with young men in prison and young people at risk of offending. Set up after the 2011 riots, it uses football, music, equine therapy and mentoring in a seven-step programme that helps participants build resilience and find work. Only 8% of those who complete its programmes go on to re-offend, against a national rate of over 50%. We designed and built a WordPress website, donated through the Delivered Social Green Initiative, that tells this story with confidence and gives every audience a clear next step.
The Challenge.
Changing Minds as Well as Lives.
Key4Life speaks to very different people at once. Young men and their families need to trust the charity, businesses need to see why they should mentor, hire or join the Younited Flag scheme, and funders and prison services need hard evidence that the programmes work. The website had to carry real stories and real numbers without losing the energy that makes Key4Life stand out, and it had to work just as well on a phone as on a desktop.
The Results.
A website as bold and hopeful as the young people it supports.
The new website gives Key4Life a confident home online that matches its mission. Visitors see the results first, then move through the programmes for over and under 18s, success stories, research and governance. Businesses can learn about corporate engagement and the Younited Flag, supporters can donate or sign up as mentors, and everyone can follow the latest news from the charity’s Instagram feed. The team updates the site themselves through WordPress, keeping the story fresh as more young people turn their lives around.
