Overview.
A calm, compassionate charity website that raises awareness of the five gynaecological cancers, funds research and connects women with support.
GRACE (Gynae-oncology Research and Clinical Excellence) was established in 2005 and supports women living with gynaecological cancers across Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire. The charity raises awareness to promote early diagnosis, funds research into causes and treatments, provides local hospitals with surgical equipment and offers peer support to women who are diagnosed. We designed and built a WordPress website, donated through the Delivered Social Green Initiative, that brings all of this together in one gentle, reassuring place.
The Challenge.
Speaking Gently About a Difficult Subject.
Every day in the UK, 58 women are told they have a gynaecological cancer, yet many still do not recognise the symptoms. GRACE needed a website that could talk about these cancers clearly and kindly, reach women who might be worried about symptoms, support those already diagnosed and inspire fundraisers. It also had to share research news, such as the MIRRORS study, and give supporters simple ways to donate, shop and sign up for challenges.
The Results.
A website that offers comfort, clarity and hope.
The new website gives GRACE a calm, trustworthy home online. Visitors are welcomed with the promise of a better future for women with gynaecological cancers, then guided to clear information on each cancer, support services, research and the latest news. Supporters can sign up for challenges from the Royal Parks to the National Three Peaks, shop online, donate or join the newsletter in a few clicks. The team keeps everything up to date themselves through WordPress.
