More on this.

Rather we just did it for you?

Let's get your business seen.

Social media, websites, SEO and ads from a team you can actually meet.

You made a great TikTok and want to post it on Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts or Facebook too. You download it, and there it is: the bouncing TikTok logo and your username stamped across the video. It looks messy, it tells everyone where it came from and it can hold back your reach on other platforms.

This guide explains how to remove the TikTok watermark from your own videos, the better habit of avoiding it in the first place, why reposting watermarked videos on Instagram is a bad idea, and the one rule that always applies: only do this with content you own.

remove TikTok watermark

What is the TikTok watermark?

When you download a video from TikTok using “Save video”, TikTok adds a watermark showing the TikTok logo and the creator’s username. It moves around the frame during the video, and some downloads also add a short TikTok end screen.

The watermark is there to credit the creator and promote TikTok. That is useful when other people share your video, but not when you are reusing your own content on other platforms.

Our advice in three points

At Delivered Social, we create and repurpose short-form video for clients every week. Our advice always comes down to three things:

  1. Save the original before you post. The easiest way to avoid a watermark is never to add one.
  2. Do not repost watermarked videos on other platforms. They look lazy and can be shown to fewer people.
  3. Only remove watermarks from your own content. Never from other people’s videos.

The best method: save your video before it gets a watermark

If you film and edit outside TikTok, you already have a clean file. Keep it and upload that same file to every platform.

If you edit inside TikTok, a few habits help:

  • Keep your raw clips. Do not delete the original footage from your camera roll until the video is posted everywhere.
  • Edit in a separate app. Editing in a video app such as CapCut or your phone’s own editor, then uploading to TikTok, gives you a clean master file you can use on any platform. Check the export settings so no app logo or end screen is added.
  • Add text and captions in the editor, not only in TikTok, so your clean version has them too.
  • Save drafts carefully. TikTok drafts live inside the app and can be lost. Export a copy of anything important.

Planning to post on several platforms from the start is the simplest fix of all. Our guide to repurposing TikToks for other networks covers the workflow.

How to remove the TikTok watermark from your own video

If you only have the downloaded, watermarked version of your own video, these are your options.

1. Re-create it from your original clips

If you still have the raw footage, rebuilding the edit in a video app gives you the best quality and no watermark. It takes a little longer, but the result is clean.

2. Crop the video

Because the watermark moves, cropping rarely removes it completely, and it cuts into your frame. It can work for videos where the watermark stays near one edge, but expect some loss of quality and framing.

3. Blur or cover it

Some editing apps can blur an area or let you place a sticker or text box over it. This is better than nothing, but a moving watermark means several adjustments, and it is often obvious.

4. Online watermark removers

There are websites and apps that claim to download TikToks without the watermark. Be careful:

  • Some are full of pop-up ads, request unnecessary permissions or try to install unwanted software.
  • Many are used to take other people’s content, which is not acceptable.
  • Quality can vary, and they may stop working when TikTok changes.

If you use one, only use it for your own videos, never enter your TikTok login, and avoid anything that asks you to install software.

Why you should not repost watermarked TikToks on Instagram

Instagram has said it wants Reels to feel original, and that Reels which are visibly recycled from other apps, including those with watermarks or logos, may be shown to fewer people. Beyond the algorithm:

  • It looks lazy. Followers notice, and it makes your Instagram feel like an afterthought.
  • It sends people elsewhere. The watermark advertises your TikTok, and TikTok, on another platform.
  • The format may not fit. Text, captions and safe areas differ between platforms. A clean file lets you adjust.

The same applies to YouTube Shorts and Facebook Reels. Upload a clean version to each platform and write a caption that suits it.

Never remove watermarks from other people’s videos

This is the rule that matters most. The watermark credits the person who made the video. Removing it from someone else’s content to post it as your own:

  • Can breach their copyright.
  • Breaks TikTok’s and Instagram’s rules, and can get your posts removed or your account restricted.
  • Damages trust if your audience finds out, which they often do.

If you want to share someone else’s video, ask permission, credit them clearly or use the platform’s own sharing, stitching or remix tools.

How to post one video to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube properly

  1. Film vertically (9:16), in good light, with clear sound.
  2. Edit in a video app and export a clean master file.
  3. Keep key text away from the edges, where each platform places its buttons and captions.
  4. Upload the same clean file natively to each platform.
  5. Write a caption and choose a cover for each platform separately.
  6. Use trending sounds in each app rather than baking a TikTok sound into the file.

What about the Instagram watermark?

Instagram Reels downloaded through some routes also carry an Instagram logo and username. The same advice applies: keep your original file, upload clean versions to each platform and only remove a watermark from content you own.

Frequently asked questions about the TikTok watermark

Can I download my TikTok without the watermark?

Not with TikTok’s normal “Save video” option. The best approach is to keep the original file you uploaded, or the clips you edited from.

Does Instagram penalise TikTok watermarks?

Instagram has said it may show fewer people Reels that are visibly recycled from other apps, such as those with watermarks.

Is it legal to remove a TikTok watermark?

From your own video, it is your content. Removing it from someone else’s video to repost it can breach their copyright and platform rules.

Are TikTok watermark remover websites safe?

Some are, many are not. Never give them your login details, avoid installing software and only use them for your own content.

Why does my downloaded TikTok have an end screen?

TikTok adds it to downloaded videos to promote the app and the creator. Trim it off in a video editor if the video is your own.

Clean files, everywhere

The easiest way to deal with the TikTok watermark is not to have one: keep your original files, edit outside the app and upload a clean version to every platform. If you do need to remove a watermark, do it only on your own videos, and never on anyone else’s.
