Our work with Sandhurst Counselling Service

Sandhurst Counselling Service is a registered charity offering compassionate, professional, and affordable counselling to adults (18+) in Sandhurst, Bracknell Forest, and the surrounding areas. Their challenge was ensuring their digital presence acted as a gentle, trustworthy, and accessible first point of contact for individuals seeking help during troubled times. As a charity relying on volunteer practitioners and community support, the website needed to clearly separate pathways for those seeking counselling from those who wanted to donate or volunteer, while also signposting users to crisis support immediately.

We began the project with a discovery session focused on the sensitive nature of the service. We prioritised the user experience of someone in distress, ensuring key information was accessible within one click. The user journey was mapped to be reassuring: first, establishing trust and professionalism (via BACP organisational membership), then detailing the service offered, and finally providing clear contact methods. The strategy included visually differentiating the pathways for seeking help versus giving help.

We executed a website design that is calm, professional, and easy to navigate, using soothing imagery and a clear, empathetic tone. We created three highly visible, immediate calls-to-action on the homepage for Need Counselling?, Want to Help?, and Crisis Support, ensuring urgent needs are met first. We also clearly showcased their commitment to affordable service and their volunteer structure. A dedicated ‘Get Involved’ section was built to facilitate donations and attract community support, transforming the site into an effective tool for both client intake and sustainable charity operations.
