Overview.

A magazine you can finish before your coffee goes cold.

Brew and Browse is an online lifestyle magazine covering fashion, beauty, career, finances, home, health, entertainment, relationships, technology and travel. We designed and built a warm, editorial WordPress site in coffee house tones, with short reads, honest reading times and a homepage organised around how much time you have to spare.

  • WordPress CMS: The editorial team can publish articles, manage every category and update homepage features without a developer.

  • Read by the Cup: A “How long have you got?” section sorts stories into Flat White and Cafetière reads, so visitors choose by the time they have.

  • Coffee House Design: Coffee Bean, Cinnamon, Latte and Oat Milk, with Fraunces headings and DM Sans body text for a calm, magazine feel.

  • Clear Routes Through the Site: A full category bar, a trending ticker and seasonal collections such as The Autumn Edit lead readers from one story to the next.

  • The Daily Grind Newsletter: Five of the best stories every morning, with sign-up points in the middle of the homepage and in the footer.

The Challenge.

Standing out in a crowded feed.

Lifestyle content is everywhere, and most magazine sites bury good writing under pop-ups, adverts and endless scrolling. Brew and Browse needed to feel like a calm, premium read from the first second, hold a large and growing library of articles across eleven topics, and give readers a reason to come back every day.

  • Lots of Content, One Clear Homepage: Eleven categories and nearly 200 articles needed a layout that never felt cluttered.

  • Respecting Readers’ Time: Every story needed an honest reading time, so people know what they are signing up for.

  • Bringing Readers Back: The site needed daily hooks, from a trending bar to a morning newsletter.

  • Inviting New Writers: A clear Write for Us route was needed to grow the magazine with contributors.

The Results.

A daily read that feels like a coffee break.

The finished site opens with a lead story and three quick reads, followed by Today’s Brew: five stories you can get through in one cup. Readers can browse the latest articles, choose stories by how long they have, sign up for The Daily Grind and dip into seasonal collections, with every category given its own section further down. Write for Us and Advertise links make it easy for contributors and partners to get involved.
