A community-driven website for one of Portsmouth’s leading charitable organisations.

Pompey in the Community is affiliated charity of Portsmouth Football Club, delivering programmes and initiatives that support people across Portsmouth and the surrounding areas through education, sport, health and community engagement.

  • WordPress CMS: Making it super easy for the team at Pompey In The Community to easily make updates to the website.

  • Clear Programme Navigation: Simple navigation for the end user whether it be making donations, booking sessions or booking in mascots for the next big game!

  • Mobile Responsive Design: Built to provide a smooth and accessible experience across all devices – mobile, desktop & tablet.

  • Free Website Design & Build: This site was created under our Delivered Social Green platform enabling local charities access to free website designs.

The Challenge.

Creating a website that reflect the scale of Pompey In The Community’s impact.

The challenges of working with an organisation which does so much and has so much content.. Where do you put it all? The website needed to showcase the huge range of programmes, support services and initiative across Portsmouth, supporting the community of all ages and background. The website also needed to be super easy for booking pitches, booking mascot spaces and signing up for programmes.

  • Structuring a Large Amount of Content Clearly: From education programmes and football sessions to health initiatives and community support projects, the website needed to organise a wide range of services without overwhelming users.

  • Creating a People-First Experience: Accessibility and usability were central to the project, ensuring visitors of all ages and technical abilities could easily access information, book programmes and engage with the charity online.

  • Ensuring Mobile-First Usability: Accessibility was key which is why the website is fully optimised for desktop, mobile and tablets.

  • Showcasing Community Impact: The website needed to highlight the difference Pompey in the Community makes across Portsmouth, placing storytelling, community outcomes and engagement at the heart of the experience. To assist with this, we also embedded the Instagram feed to the homepage.
