If your videos keep landing on a few hundred views, it is easy to understand why people search for how to buy tiktok views. A big number under a video feels like proof that it is worth watching, and a quick fix is tempting when you have put hours into filming and editing. We are a social media agency, and we get asked about this fairly often, so we want to give you a straight answer: what you actually get, why it rarely helps, and what moves the number for real.

The short version is that bought views are a number on a screen and nothing more. They do not come with people who follow you, buy from you or tell TikTok your video deserves a bigger audience. By the end of this guide you will know how to work out why a video stalled and what to change next.

What it means to buy tiktok views

When a seller offers tiktok views, they are offering to push a number up on your video. Where those views come from is rarely explained. In our experience, and according to security researchers who have looked at this market, the usual sources are automated accounts, networks of low-paid people tapping through videos, or scripts. Malwarebytes published a look at this market in July 2026 and concluded that at the prices charged, the engagement is usually driven by bots or click farms, even when the seller claims real profiles (see their write-up). That is one security company’s assessment, not a rule, but it matches what we see.

Either way, the person behind each view has no interest in you. They are not a customer, they are not a local, and they will not like, comment, share or follow. A view is a very cheap signal. It tells you something loaded and played for a moment, and little else.

Why views alone do not turn into followers or sales

Think about what you want from a video. Most people want one of three things: more followers, more enquiries or sales, or a bigger audience for the next post. A bought view delivers none of these.

  • Followers: someone follows because they enjoyed the video and want more. A bot has no opinion. If you have ever wondered whether a high view count at least looks convincing, it only works until a real person scrolls down and sees almost no likes or comments. For a closer look at the follower side of this, our guide on whether you should buy TikTok followers covers what that purchase really gets you.
  • Sales and enquiries: your customers are real people in a particular place with a particular problem. A view from a stranger with no interest in your product has no chance of becoming a booking.
  • Reach: as we will explain below, TikTok decides who sees your video based on how real people respond. Empty views give it nothing useful to learn from.

There is a second problem. A video with thousands of views and almost no likes, comments or shares looks odd to anyone who knows what to look for, and brands and potential clients do check. Our guide to spotting fake followers shows the signs people look for, and most apply to views as well. Trust is hard to rebuild once it looks like you chose to buy tiktok views instead of earning them.

How TikTok decides who sees your video

This is the part that makes bought views pointless. TikTok has explained in its own newsroom how its For You feed works, and the explanation is worth reading in full: How TikTok recommends content. Here is what that page says, in plain English.

The For You feed is personalised to each viewer. TikTok says it looks at a mix of signals: how people interact (likes, shares, follows, comments, and content they create), information about the video itself (such as captions, sounds and hashtags), and device and account settings such as language, country and device type. It says strong signals of interest carry more weight than weak ones, and that settings like language and country carry lower weight because people do not choose them as preferences. Its own example is that finishing a longer video is a stronger signal than simply sharing a country with the creator.

Two other points on that page matter a great deal to anyone thinking about this. First, TikTok states that neither follower count nor whether an account has had previous high-performing videos are direct factors in what it recommends. So a small account really can reach a big audience, and you do not need to “look popular” first. Second, it says that spam, including videos seeking to artificially increase traffic, may not be eligible for recommendation.

Put those together and the problem with bought views is clear. TikTok is not counting your views and deciding you are important. It is watching what real people do with the video: do they stay, do they react, do they come back to it. A purchased view does none of that, so it adds no useful signal. At best it does nothing. At worst it points the system at the wrong kind of audience, as we will see next.

TikTok does not publish the full formula, so we will not pretend to know the exact weighting.

How buying views can backfire

Beyond wasting money, there are some real risks. They will not hit every buyer, but they are worth knowing.

  1. It breaks the rules. TikTok’s Community Guidelines say it does not allow the trade of services that attempt to artificially increase engagement, and they list selling followers or likes as an example. They also say content that tricks people into engaging can be ineligible for the For You feed. The guidelines say that when TikTok finds accounts or content with inauthentically inflated metrics, it will remove the fake engagement. You can read the policy yourself on the integrity and authenticity page. We could not find any promise on that page about what happens to the account as a whole, so we will not guess, but if you are worried about penalties, our article on a TikTok account banned explains how appeals work.
  2. It can pollute your data. If most of your views come from accounts that have nothing to do with your real customers, your analytics tell you very little. You will not be able to tell which videos truly worked.
  3. It can cost more than the price. Malwarebytes points out that some sellers ask for logins or access to business accounts, and some funnels collect contact details before revealing what is being sold. Never hand your TikTok password to anyone.
  4. It does not last. A purchased number does nothing for your next video, so you would be paying again each time.

We are not saying every purchase triggers a penalty, because TikTok does not publish how it treats individual cases. We are saying the downside is real and the upside is close to nothing.

What real views need

If bought views are the wrong fix, the alternative is not complicated. Real tiktok views come from three things working together: a hook, retention, and consistent posting.

A hook that earns the first few seconds

Most people decide almost instantly whether to keep watching. The hook is whatever you say or show at the very start. Strong hooks tend to do one of a few things: pose a question your viewer already has, show the surprising end result first, or state a clear promise (“here is how we fixed a leaking tap in ten minutes”). Weak hooks start with greetings, logos or long introductions.

Try this: write three different first lines for the same video and film all three. Post the one you think is best, and keep the others to test later.

Retention, which means keeping people watching

TikTok tells us that finishing a longer video is a strong signal of interest. In practice, that means your job is to give people a reason to reach the end. Cut anything that does not earn its place. Remove pauses. Make one point per video instead of five. Use on-screen text so people can follow without sound. If you promise something at the start, deliver it at the end, and consider ending on a line that makes a rewatch worthwhile.

Posting often enough to learn

No single video is a verdict on your account. Posting regularly gives TikTok more chances to find the audience that suits you, and it gives you more results to learn from. We would rather see a small business post three decent videos a week for three months than twelve in one burst followed by silence. If you need a routine, our guide on how to get followers on TikTok covers a workable one.

How to diagnose a video that stalls

When a video flops, resist the urge to blame the algorithm. Work through the video as a viewer would. Open your TikTok analytics for that video (the exact layout changes from time to time, so look for the viewer and watch-time information) and ask these questions in order.

  1. Did anyone start watching? If very few people saw it at all, the problem may be distribution or topic. Check that the video was not removed or restricted, and that your caption, sound and hashtags describe what the video is actually about.
  2. Did they stay past the first seconds? If most viewers left almost immediately, your hook is the problem. Rewrite the opening.
  3. Did they stay to the end? If people left halfway, look for the moment it dragged. Shorten it.
  4. Did they react? Plenty of viewers but few likes, comments or shares suggests the video was fine to watch but not worth responding to. Add a clear point of view or a reason to comment.
  5. Was it for the right people? A video can do well with the wrong audience. Check where viewers are from and whether that matches the customers you want.

Change one thing at a time on the next video, so you know what made the difference. We have put these checks into a printable sheet, which you can grab at the end of this article.

Honest ways to increase your views

  • Pick one clear audience. A video made for “everyone” tends to land with no one. Make it for a specific person with a specific problem.
  • Use a clear caption and the right sound and hashtags. TikTok lists these as video information that feeds into recommendations, so describe the video honestly.
  • Cross-promote. Share your best videos in your email newsletter, on your website and on your other social channels, so real people who already know you can give early signals.
  • Use paid promotion if you want to pay. TikTok has its own advertising tools that put your content in front of real people you choose. That is a legitimate way to pay for reach, and it is very different from buying a number. We would suggest a small budget and a clear goal. We have not covered the details here, so check TikTok’s own advertising pages for current options and rules.

Be patient: real growth is slower than a purchase, but it compounds.

Frequently asked questions

Will buying views help my video reach the For You feed?

We have no evidence that it will, so we would not buy tiktok views for that purpose. TikTok says its recommendations depend on how real people interact with a video, and that spam aimed at artificially raising traffic may not be eligible for recommendation.

Is it against TikTok’s rules to buy views?

The Community Guidelines prohibit the trade of services that attempt to artificially increase engagement. Views are not named in the examples we could see, which mention followers and likes, but the principle is the same. Check the current policy yourself.

Can TikTok remove bought views?

TikTok says it removes fake engagement when it finds inauthentically inflated metrics. How quickly and how completely it does so is not something we can confirm.

How many views is a good number?

It depends entirely on your goal and your audience. Views matter less than watch time, reactions and whether the right people are watching. Compare your own videos against each other rather than against strangers.

Are views the same as followers?

No. A view means someone watched. A follower means someone chose to see more from you. Many videos get views without gaining a single follower.
