Social media, websites, SEO and ads from a team you can actually meet.

TikTok is no longer just for teenagers dancing in their bedrooms. Businesses of every size now use it to reach new customers, and TikTok’s ad platform makes it easy to get started. The question we get asked most is simple: how much do TikTok ads cost in the UK?

This guide explains TikTok ads cost for UK businesses: how TikTok charges, the minimum budgets you need, what affects the price, how to set a sensible starting budget, and why, in our experience, organic TikTok often gets better results than ads on their own.

How much do TikTok ads cost?

There is no fixed price list. TikTok ads are sold through an auction, so what you pay depends on who you want to reach, what you want them to do, how competitive that audience is and how good your ad is. Two businesses with the same budget can see very different costs.

What is fixed is the minimum you have to spend, and the way you are charged.

TikTok ads minimum budget

TikTok sets minimum budgets at two levels:

  • Campaign level: a daily budget must be more than $50, or the equivalent in your account currency.
  • Ad group level: a daily budget must be more than $20, or the equivalent.

If you use a lifetime budget, the ad group minimum is the number of days multiplied by the daily minimum. So a month-long ad group needs a lifetime budget of several hundred pounds as a minimum.

These minimums can change, so check TikTok’s help centre when you set up your account. In practice, a small business testing TikTok ads should plan for at least a few hundred pounds a month to get meaningful results.

How TikTok charges for ads

Depending on your campaign objective, TikTok charges in one of these ways:

  • CPM (cost per 1,000 impressions): you pay each time your ad is shown 1,000 times. Used for reach and awareness.
  • oCPM (optimised CPM): still charged per 1,000 impressions, but TikTok shows your ad to people most likely to take the action you choose, such as a lead or purchase.
  • CPC (cost per click): you pay when someone clicks your ad. Used for traffic campaigns.
  • CPV (cost per view): you pay when someone watches for at least six seconds or interacts with the video. Used for video views campaigns.

As with Facebook ads, what matters most is not the cost per view or click, but the cost per enquiry or sale. Our guide on Facebook ads costs in the UK explains the same principle on Meta.

What affects TikTok ad costs

  • Your audience: narrow or highly sought-after audiences cost more to reach.
  • Your objective: asking for sales or leads usually costs more per impression than asking for views, but can cost less per result.
  • Your creative: ads that feel native to TikTok and hold attention tend to be cheaper to show. Ads that look like TV adverts get scrolled past.
  • Time of year: costs usually rise around Christmas, Black Friday and other busy retail periods.
  • Competition: if lots of businesses are targeting the same people, prices go up.
  • Tracking: with the TikTok Pixel set up properly, TikTok learns who converts and finds similar people more efficiently.

Our experience: TikTok ads and organic TikTok

At Delivered Social, we run TikTok ads for clients regularly. But we are honest about what we see: for many of our clients, organic TikTok content brings better results than ads alone.

Organic videos that feel real, show the people behind the business and give useful or entertaining content often reach more people, and build more trust, than a paid ad. They also tell you which ideas land before you spend money promoting them.

That is why our approach usually combines the two:

  1. Post organic content consistently to learn what your audience responds to.
  2. Boost the videos that are already working with Spark Ads, which turn your organic posts into ads while keeping the likes, comments and your account name. Our guide to TikTok Spark Ads explains how they work.
  3. Use paid campaigns to scale what has already proved itself, rather than guessing with brand-new ad creative.

Paying to promote a video people already love is far cheaper and more effective than paying to push one they do not.

How to set a TikTok ads budget

  1. Start with your goal. Awareness, website visits, leads or sales. Each needs a different objective.
  2. Work back from your numbers. If a new customer is worth £300 to you, decide how much you can afford to pay to win one.
  3. Meet the minimums with room to learn. A campaign needs enough budget and time to exit TikTok’s learning phase. Plan for at least two to four weeks.
  4. Test a few creatives. Try three to five different videos rather than one, and move budget to the best performer.
  5. Review weekly, but do not change everything at once.

How to keep TikTok ads costs down

  • Make videos for TikTok, not repurposed TV or Facebook ads. Vertical, sound on, fast first two seconds.
  • Use Spark Ads to promote organic posts that are already performing. See how they compare in our guide to Spark Ads vs Promote.
  • Refresh creative often. TikTok audiences tire of the same video quickly.
  • Install the TikTok Pixel so campaigns can optimise for real results.
  • Keep audiences broad enough for TikTok’s algorithm to find the right people.
  • Study what works in your industry using the TikTok ads library.

TikTok ads vs Facebook and Instagram ads

  • TikTok is strong for reaching new audiences with entertaining, authentic video, and often works well for younger audiences, consumer brands and local businesses with personality.
  • Facebook and Instagram offer more mature targeting, retargeting and lead forms, and usually reach a broader age range.

Many businesses use both, with TikTok to build awareness and Meta to retarget and convert. Our guide on Instagram ads costs covers the Meta side.

Frequently asked questions about TikTok ads cost

What is the minimum spend for TikTok ads?

TikTok requires a campaign daily budget above $50 and an ad group daily budget above $20, or the equivalent in your currency. Check the latest figures in TikTok’s help centre.

Are TikTok ads worth it for small businesses?

They can be, especially if your customers use TikTok and you can create authentic video. Many small businesses get the best value by building organic content first and boosting what works.

How much does it cost to advertise on TikTok per month?

It depends on your goals, but most small businesses testing TikTok ads should plan for at least a few hundred pounds a month, plus the time to create videos.

Is TikTok cheaper than Facebook ads?

Sometimes the cost to reach people is lower on TikTok, but the true comparison is cost per lead or sale, which varies by business.

Do I need to pay an influencer as well?

No, but creator content often performs well as ads. Some businesses pay creators to make videos, then run them as Spark Ads.

Spend on TikTok wisely

TikTok ads cost what the auction says, but you control how well that money works. Meet the minimum budgets, give campaigns time to learn, make videos that feel native to the platform and, above all, build organic content first so you know what to put money behind.
