It can be tempting to jump on every social media network there is to try and increase your online presence and reach. But this is not the best strategy unless you have a marketing team that can keep up! We recommend choosing just a few networks where your message will work best. For example, if you’re a B2B company, LinkedIn would definitely be up there. Or, if you sell beautiful products, the visually appealing platform of Instagram would be great.

When new social network platforms come along, it can also be tempting to jump on the bandwagon straight away. But this tip applies then too! Do your research on the platform first. Will it actually be a good fit for your business? For example, you’ll probably not have much success with a TikTok account unless your business appeals directly to its mainly teenage audience.

The key to making digital marketing & social media work for your business is to be consistent. Now, you don’t have to post on every social media platform every day. But posting regularly is the best way to increase engagement and make sure that your content stays relevant. And for quick and concise platforms like Twitter, try doing it every day if you can! However, this is just a rough guide. Different things will work for different businesses on the various platforms, so don’t be afraid of trial and error!

Another thing to stay consistent with is the style of posts you put out there. Obviously you don’t want them to all look the same- that’s boring! But try and maintain a generic theme or post type that the majority of your posts are about. This means that your followers will more easily recognise your posts in their feed, and everything will look cohesive and put together. This is especially important for platforms such as Instagram, where followers can see all of your posts side by side.

Keep up to date with the latest trends

Another digital marketing & social media tip is to always try and keep up to date with the latest trends in the digital marketing space. Now, we don’t recommend that you religiously follow each and every trend. You want to maintain some originality and stand out from the crowd! The platform that you run your contest on will depend on your goals. So, if you want more Facebook likes, run it there. And, if you want more Instagram followers, do it there- simple! You could even run it on more than one platform if you wanted. If not, don’t forget to promote your competition across your social media to get the most engagement possible!
