When it comes to digital marketing & social media, it can be hard to know what you should be doing. How do you improve your strategy and social media accounts? What can you do to make yourself stand out from the crowd? Digital and social media marketing is an ever-changing landscape- there are so many ideas that you could be implementing! So, we’ve put together six of our top tips for digital marketing & social media ideas that you can use to improve your social media marketing strategy today!
Feedback cards are a great way to show off
This is a digital marketing & social media tip that we use with a lot of our clients here at Delivered Social! But what is a feedback card, you may ask? It’s basically a nice graphic card that you can use to show off your feedback on your social media! If you want an example, take a look at our Instagram where we’ve used a few different designs over the past year or so.
We always talk about the importance of getting feedback from your customers as it can have so many benefits, including better SEO and encouraging new leads. Having a beautifully designed feedback card is a great way to share your feedback far and wide on your social media! Then, both existing and potential customers can see what an amazing job you do.
We advocate being on social media, of course. It can do wonders for your business and marketing efforts. However, our next digital marketing & social media tip is to research the best platforms for your business! It can be tempting to jump on every social media network there is to try and increase your online presence and reach. But this is not the best strategy unless you have a marketing team that can keep up! We recommend choosing just a few networks where your message will work best. For example, if you’re a B2B company, LinkedIn would definitely be up there. Or, if you sell beautiful products, the visually appealing platform of Instagram would be great.
When new social network platforms come along, it can also be tempting to jump on the bandwagon straight away. But this tip applies then too! Do your research on the platform first. Will it actually be a good fit for your business? For example, you’ll probably not have much success with a TikTok account unless your business appeals directly to its mainly teenage audience.
The key to making digital marketing & social media work for your business is to be consistent. Now, you don’t have to post on every social media platform every day. But posting regularly is the best way to increase engagement and make sure that your content stays relevant. We usually recommend posting at least once a week on more professional social media platforms such as LinkedIn. For others, such as Instagram or Facebook, at least twice a week. And for quick and concise platforms like Twitter, try doing it every day if you can! However, this is just a rough guide. Different things will work for different businesses on the various platforms, so don’t be afraid of trial and error!
Another thing to stay consistent with is the style of posts you put out there. Obviously you don’t want them to all look the same- that’s boring! But try and maintain a generic theme or post type that the majority of your posts are about. This means that your followers will more easily recognise your posts in their feed, and everything will look cohesive and put together. This is especially important for platforms such as Instagram, where followers can see all of your posts side by side.
Keep up to date with the latest trends
Another digital marketing & social media tip is to always try and keep up to date with the latest trends in the digital marketing space. Now, we don’t recommend that you religiously follow each and every trend. You want to maintain some originality and stand out from the crowd! However, you should bear in mind what’s going on and what is popular right now. If you think it’s relevant to your business and what you’re trying to achieve with your digital marketing efforts, by all means, give it a go! It should help to increase your engagement and give you a reputation as a business that stays relevant.
Use video content in your digital marketing & social media
Using video content is a great way to make your social media look great. There are so many options to choose from when it comes to video content. What you choose may depend on the type of business you have. For example, if you want to give your followers a personal insight into your business, you could do ‘behind the scenes’ style vlogs on Instagram stories. Or, if you want a more professional approach, you could hire a videographer to do an introductory video to your business, and share it on your social media accounts. The options are endless, but video content is becoming an increasingly popular medium. Don’t get left behind- include it in your digital marketing & social media today.
Run a contest to get people engaged
Finally, want an easy way to boost your engagement that’s low cost for your business? Why not run a competition! This is another digital marketing & social media tip that we always recommend in our Social Clinics. Running a competition encouraging people to like and follow your post and account to enter is a sure-fire way to increase engagement. Even better, ask your followers to tag one or more friends to enter. That way, their friends will see your account too, and may even follow and enter the competition themselves!
The platform that you run your contest on will depend on your goals. So, if you want more Facebook likes, run it there. And, if you want more Instagram followers, do it there- simple! You could even run it on more than one platform if you wanted. If not, don’t forget to promote your competition across your social media to get the most engagement possible!
These six digital marketing & social media tips are just the beginning when it comes to fresh ideas! But we hope that they have helped you come up with some new content that increases engagement and boosts your marketing efforts!
